The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has officially launched the online registration portal for the second phase of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI), aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance among Nigerian youth.

Barely an hour after the portal went live on Monday, no fewer than 16,470 Nigerians had accessed it to apply for various vocational training opportunities.

The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is a flagship programme of the Tinubu administration, designed to empower unskilled Nigerians with relevant vocational skills and tools to foster self-employment. The first phase of the initiative, implemented nationwide, recorded over 93,000 beneficiaries.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the Director-General of NDE, Silas Agara, revealed that only applicants with a valid National Identity Number (NIN) are eligible for registration. He emphasized that the application process is entirely digital and closely monitored by the NDE headquarters in collaboration with its state and zonal offices.

Agara, who is also a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, noted:

“As we speak, we have robustly provided software, hardware, and internet connectivity to all the 36 states and the FCT to ensure seamless digital implementation of this second phase. These facilities are also available in all our six zonal offices.”

He urged Nigerian youths between the ages of 18 and 45 to take advantage of the opportunity, as the second phase of the initiative targets 27,000 beneficiaries across the country.
