Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has met with families of victims abducted in Ahoro community, Oriire Local Government Area, assuring them that his administration is working tirelessly with security agencies to secure the safe release of all those held captive.

The Governor gave the assurance during a visit to the community on Saturday, where he met with affected families, community leaders, and residents at the open field of Ahoro Esiele Local Authority Basic School.

Addressing the gathering, Makinde acknowledged the emotional trauma and anxiety being experienced by the families, noting that no words could adequately ease their pain. He, however, pledged that the state government would spare no effort in ensuring the victims are rescued unharmed.

“I understand the anguish and uncertainty that this unfortunate incident has brought upon the affected families and the entire community. While words may not be enough to comfort you at this difficult time, I want to assure you that we are doing everything within our power to secure the release of your loved ones,” the Governor said.

Makinde disclosed that since the abduction occurred, he has been holding security meetings twice daily with relevant security agencies and stakeholders to coordinate rescue operations and strengthen intelligence gathering.

The Governor also paid tribute to operatives of the Western Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, revealing that nearly 200 personnel had lost their lives while confronting criminal elements and safeguarding communities across the state.

He maintained that despite any grievances the abductors might claim to have, the act of kidnapping innocent citizens remains cruel, unacceptable, and inhumane.

“Regardless of the motives behind this act, there can be no justification for inflicting such pain on innocent families. We share in your grief and remain fully committed to bringing the victims back safely,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the affected families, Professor Wole Alamu, husband of the abducted school principal, Mrs. Funmilayo Ojo, appealed to the Governor to intensify efforts toward the victims’ rescue. He noted that his daughter-in-law and four grandchildren are among those currently in captivity.

Similarly, Mr. Aliu Saidi, a relative of one of the abductees, urged the government and security agencies not to relent until all the victims regain their freedom.

Following the public engagement, Governor Makinde held a private meeting with families of the abducted pupils and teachers, where he further reassured them of the government’s unwavering commitment to the ongoing rescue operation.
