The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has officially unveiled Hon. Muftau Open Salawu of Ogbomoso as its Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, attracted party leaders, political stakeholders, supporters, and other key players from across the state.

The event marked a significant development in the emerging alliance between the APM and the PDP, as both parties intensify efforts to strengthen their political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the ceremony, leaders of the parties described the emergence of Hon. Salawu as a strategic decision aimed at consolidating the alliance’s presence and expanding its grassroots support across Oyo State, particularly in Ogbomoso and the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zones.
They commended his leadership qualities, political experience, and commitment to community development, expressing confidence that his inclusion would boost the coalition’s prospects in the forthcoming governorship race.
The APM/PDP alliance has continued to attract attention within the state’s political space, with observers describing the partnership as a major realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Salawu appreciated the leadership of both parties for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to work closely with the governorship candidate, party executives, and stakeholders to promote good governance, unity, and sustainable development in Oyo State.
The ceremony ended with renewed appeals for cohesion among members and a commitment to building a strong political platform capable of achieving victory in the 2027 governorship election.
