Barely three weeks after the abduction of Nigeria’s future leaders, the innocent children, students, teachers, and principal kidnapped in the unfortunate incident are still languishing in the forest in the hands of their abductors.

These criminals, who have little regard for human life, appear unbothered by the trauma their actions have inflicted on the victims, their parents, guardians, and the entire nation. Their greatest satisfaction seems to be the pain, fear, and uncertainty experienced by families desperately waiting for the safe return of their loved ones.
The question on the lips of every concerned Nigerian is: how long will these innocent citizens, who left their homes with hope and happiness, continue to remain in captivity? Can a sovereign nation like Nigeria not mobilise all necessary resources to rescue these children, teachers, and school officials before it becomes too late?
If, God forbid, any of these abductees lose their lives due to delayed or ineffective action, Nigerians will demand accountability. Protecting citizens and ensuring their safety is one of the fundamental responsibilities of government. Nigerians are not only expecting rescue efforts; they are also demanding decisive action that reflects the urgency of the situation.
The patience of Nigerians is gradually wearing thin as hope continues to diminish. Citizens want to see the government justify the confidence placed in it by taking concrete steps to restore smiles to the faces of affected families both at home and abroad. Nigeria, as a country that has played significant roles in peacekeeping efforts across Africa, must demonstrate the strength and capacity expected of a sovereign nation.
At this critical moment, what Nigerians want is not another round of promises or assurances on social media from government officials, but the safe return of their children and loved ones. Failure to act swiftly to prevent a possible tragedy may deepen public frustration and trigger widespread anger.
The government at both state and federal levels must intensify efforts to secure the release of all kidnapped citizens across affected states, particularly the school children abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Although both the state and federal governments have pledged their commitment to ensuring the safe return of the victims, there is an urgent need to match words with action. Every additional day these innocent Nigerians spend in captivity increases the anxiety of their families and heightens tension among citizens, especially in Oyo State, where many are eagerly waiting for the return of their loved ones.
The time for prolonged assurances is over. The priority now must be the safe rescue and return of these citizens to their families.
