At the 15th Postgraduate and Doctoral Convocation Ceremony of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, held on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, one name stood out among the graduating class—Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun, the Federal Commissioner representing Ogun State at the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Master’s Student in the Department of Economics.
The remarkable achievement drew widespread admiration from dignitaries, academics, colleagues and well-wishers who witnessed the convocation both physically and online. Amosun’s outstanding academic performance, which earned him the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in his department, underscored his unwavering commitment to excellence despite his demanding public responsibilities.
His feat reflects the timeless wisdom of Proverbs 22:29: “Do you see a man diligent in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before mere men.” Through discipline, resilience, consistency and hard work, Amosun has demonstrated that academic excellence and public service can successfully coexist.
Already armed with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious Lagos Business School, obtained in 2010, Amosun chose to further strengthen his intellectual capacity by pursuing a Master of Science in Economics. His latest academic accomplishment reflects his firm belief that education remains an indispensable tool for effective leadership and national development.
Many have wondered how a frontline politician, grassroots mobiliser and public administrator successfully balanced the rigorous demands of politics, business and postgraduate studies. According to Amosun, the answer lies in discipline and commitment.
“I attended all my lectures without fail, completed every assignment personally, and paid close attention to every detail. Once I attend a class, I grasp the subject immediately,” he said.
His academic discipline mirrors the values he consistently imparts to members of his political academy at AK City, where he regularly encourages young people and political associates to pursue continuous education.
He often advises his followers:
“If you have an HND, convert it to a degree. After your first degree, pursue a master’s degree, and if possible, earn a PhD. You will certainly need it in the future.”
For Amosun, excellence is not a destination but a continuous journey. Rather than resting on the laurels of his latest achievement, he has already set his sights on obtaining a doctoral degree, reaffirming his conviction that learning should be lifelong.
Observers at the convocation believe his emergence as the best graduating student was no coincidence but the product of years of discipline, dedication and an unrelenting pursuit of knowledge. Many also express confidence that his doctoral ambition will culminate in another outstanding accomplishment.

A proud alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife—renowned as the cradle of learning and culture—Amosun has continued to embody the Omolúàbí ideals of integrity, humility, scholarship and service. His conduct also reflects the charge delivered by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to graduating students to distinguish themselves not only in learning but also in character.
