A prominent political figure in Ogbomoso and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Olufemi Oladokun Onireti is set to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today alongside several political associates and supporters.
The formal defection ceremony is scheduled to take place at the APC Zonal Office, Apake, Ogbomoso, by 10:00 a.m., with party leaders, stakeholders, loyalists and supporters expected to attend in large numbers.
Hon. Onireti, a businessman, philanthropist and grassroots politician, contested the House of Representatives election under the platform of the PDP during the last general election but narrowly lost after a highly competitive contest.
Political observers described the planned defection as a major development capable of reshaping the political landscape in Ogbomoso and its environs ahead of future political engagements in Oyo State.
The event is also expected to witness the movement of thousands of supporters into the APC, further strengthening the party’s structure within the constituency.
Among notable political figures expected to join Onireti in the APC are Hon. Felix Akande, Hon. Dayo Fagbemi, TPL Odetunde Williams, Mr. David Oyeniran and Hon. Ajibola Olawale.
Onireti, who currently serves as the Director of the CityBoy Movement in Oyo State, has remained actively involved in grassroots mobilization, empowerment initiatives and community development projects across the constituency.
According to reports by Scoopchase, the politician has maintained strong engagement with communities through various support programmes, infrastructural interventions and humanitarian activities.
