Prominent philanthropist and illustrious son of Ogbomoso, Alhaji Monzur Ayoade Ejide, has expressed profound gratitude and delight over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro-Esinle Community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing their release as a moment of great relief and renewed hope for their families and the entire state.
In a statement made available to journalists, Ejide thanked Almighty Allah for preserving the lives of the victims throughout their 56-day captivity, noting that their safe return has brought joy, comfort, and reassurance to the affected families and communities.
He described the successful rescue as a remarkable achievement made possible through the collective determination and coordinated efforts of governments, traditional institutions, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders.
Ejide commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to securing the release of the victims. He also praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his steadfast leadership and continuous support for security operations aimed at restoring peace and protecting residents across the state.
The philanthropist equally applauded the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olusolà Alao, Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran and other traditional rulers across Ogbomoso Zone, security agencies, and community stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the successful operation.
According to him, the professionalism, resilience, and dedication displayed by the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), local intelligence operatives, and other security personnel demonstrate the effectiveness of collaboration in combating insecurity and protecting innocent citizens.
While celebrating the freedom of the victims, Ejide stressed that the incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen security architecture across communities, particularly around schools and other vulnerable public institutions.
He called on governments at all levels, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to sustain efforts aimed at improving intelligence gathering, enhancing community policing, and ensuring that educational institutions remain safe for learning.
“The safety of our children and teachers must remain a collective responsibility and a top priority for every stakeholder. We must continue to support initiatives that will strengthen security, prevent future occurrences, and guarantee a peaceful learning environment across Oyo State,” he said.
Ejide also offered prayers for the complete physical, emotional, and psychological recovery of the rescued pupils and teachers, expressing confidence that, with adequate care and support, they would overcome the trauma of their ordeal and successfully reintegrate into their schools and communities.
