The National Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives aspirant for the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Dr. Kunle Adegbite, has launched a major youth empowerment initiative in Ogbomoso as part of his efforts to promote economic self-reliance and grassroots development.
The empowerment programme, held at the Ogbomoso Township Hall, attracted a large gathering of NDC stakeholders, party leaders, supporters and well-wishers from Ogbomoso and beyond.
The event followed Adegbite’s arrival in the ancient city on Thursday in a carnival-like procession, which generated considerable excitement among party supporters and residents.
Among those who attended the empowerment ceremony were the NDC Chairman in Oyo State and other prominent party leaders and stakeholders from within and outside the state.
Speaking at the event, the party leaders expressed their support for Adegbite and other NDC candidates aspiring to various elective positions, pledging their commitment to the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The beneficiaries of the empowerment programme were drawn from the three component areas of the federal constituency—Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire.
As part of the initiative, keys to newly purchased Yamaha motorcycles were presented to 10 beneficiaries to enable them to establish or strengthen their means of livelihood.
Vehicles were also presented to selected party members in recognition of what was described as their sustained commitment, loyalty and contributions to the growth of the NDC in Ogbomoso and beyond.
In his welcome address, Dr. Adegbite expressed appreciation for the massive turnout of party members, supporters and members of the public who attended the ceremony.
He described the gathering as a demonstration of the confidence and goodwill that the people of Ogbomoso have reposed in him and other party leaders.
Adegbite said the empowerment initiative was designed not merely as a political activity but as part of his commitment to supporting young people and creating opportunities for economic independence within the constituency.
He also acknowledged the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Orumogege III, the Soun of Ogbomoso, commending the monarch for what he described as quality leadership and his contributions to the development of Ogbomoso.
Adegbite assured the people of the federal constituency that, if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027, he would provide effective, people-oriented and accountable representation.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of the motorcycle keys to the beneficiaries by Dr. Adegbite.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Yemi Dare of Bartez Galazo Couture expressed gratitude to Adegbite and the party leadership for the gesture, promising to put the motorcycles to productive use and make judicious use of the opportunities provided through the empowerment programme.
The ceremony ended amid renewed calls by party supporters for unity, grassroots mobilisation and collective efforts towards securing victory for the NDC and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
