Asípa Celebrates Soun of Ogbomoso at 65, Hails Monarch’s Vision for Unity and Development

The Asípa of Ogbomosoland, High Chief Barrister Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle, OON, KJW, and a retired Permanent Secretary of the Federation, has congratulated the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.

High Chief Adekunle, in his congratulatory message, described the monarch’s attainment of 65 years as a significant milestone deserving of celebration, reflection and gratitude to God for a life dedicated to service, leadership and the advancement of humanity.

He commended Oba Olaoye for what he described as his progressive and development-oriented approach to traditional leadership, noting that since ascending the ancient throne of Ogbomoso, the monarch had demonstrated a strong commitment to the growth, unity and cultural renaissance of the kingdom.

According to him, Oba Olaoye has continued to promote the rich cultural identity and traditional heritage of Ogbomoso while simultaneously embracing ideas capable of positioning the ancient city for greater development and recognition.

The Asípa particularly praised the Soun for his advocacy of peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among the people of Ogbomoso and neighbouring communities.

He noted that the responsibility of a traditional ruler extends beyond occupying the throne, stressing that a monarch is expected to serve as a symbol of unity, stability, wisdom and peaceful coexistence.

High Chief Adekunle further described Oba Olaoye as a monarch whose leadership philosophy reflects a desire to preserve the historical values of Ogbomosoland while opening new opportunities for development and progress.

He said the Soun’s efforts to bring people together, strengthen relationships within the kingdom and encourage peaceful interactions with surrounding towns were worthy of commendation.

The retired Permanent Secretary also acknowledged the importance of the traditional institution in preserving the identity and collective memory of the people, expressing confidence that the Soun’s reign would continue to contribute positively to the socio-cultural and economic development of Ogbomosoland.

While congratulating the monarch on his 65th birthday, High Chief Adekunle prayed for divine wisdom, sound health, peace and prosperity for Oba Olaoye.

He also prayed that God would grant the Soun a long, peaceful and fruitful reign on the throne of his forebears, with enduring accomplishments that would benefit present and future generations of Ogbomoso people.

High Chief Adekunle expressed optimism that the Soun would continue to provide purposeful leadership and inspire greater unity, development and cultural pride among the people of Ogbomosoland.

He therefore joined members of the royal family, traditional institutions, indigenes and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating the monarch’s 65th birthday, wishing His Imperial Majesty many more years of good health, wisdom and impactful service to the kingdom.
