The Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat has lauded Lions Clubs International for always partnering with the Lagos State Government in delivering value added community services to various sectors in need in the state. Dr Obafemi Hamzat who was represented by the Lagos State commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Tolani Alli – Balogun stated this during the commissioning and handover ceremony of a reconstructed and renovated dinning hall for the Lagos State Junior Model College Ojo at the school premises on Thursday.

The Deputy Governor who expressed the state’s profound appreciation of the government and people of Lagos State to various Lions International District 404B3 initiatives in the the state noted the club has integrity and continuity having done a similar project in the Senior Model College in 2025 with a promise to come back and do same project for the Junior Model College – ” a promise which is now being fulfilled”.
The Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat appealed for more corporate participations and interventions noting that government can not do it alone and assuring of the state’s readiness to continue to partner and collaborate with the Lions International in further achievements of its set objectives.
In his own goodwill message at the event, Hon. Zaad Lukman Olumoh Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly with oversight functions as chairman in the planning and budget committee, commended the Lions District 404B3 projects in the state. Hon. Lukman Olumoh assured that he will henceforth propel the state assembly to start listing and including activities of charity organizations such as Lions International in the profiling for budgeting and planning in Lagos State. Hon. Lukman Olumoh acknowledged the immense contributions of Lions Clubs to leadership training, noting that he was a direct beneficiary of such trainings ” which has helped me in no small measures of discharging my duties” he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Lions International District 404B3 Governor commended the state government for the strategic partnership with the Lions Clubs through ” prompt approvals of Lions’ letters of intent and proposals” as failure or denials of such would have made such proposals moribond al binitio.
The District Governor Adelaja Adeleye lauded all corporate donors, individuals and the Lions Clubs members for their continued support without which the association would not have been able to impact lives in the communities. He thanked the management of the Lagos model colleges for the believe in the Lions Clubs vision and supporting them. He appealed to the students to be great custodians of the project by ensuring that the dinning halls are not vandalized in any way.
” As our leaders of tomorrow, you our students today, must not only protect these legacies but also strive to do better at your time in future, that it will be recorded that you also gave back to the society as you are receiving today” Adelaja appealed.
The commissioning of this legacy project also witnessed the Lions Clubs District 404B3 free lunch for all the Junior Model College students in the presence of top education managers of Lagos State including the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Hon. Tolani Jamiu Alli – Balogun, Commissioner for Tertiary Education Hon Tolani Sule ably represented by Prof. Raheem Olasupo, Provost Lagos State College of Health Technology, the Lagos State Tutor General and permanent secretary Mr Abiodun Hassan and the principal of the Lagos State Junior Model College Dr Mrs Adenike Olusola amongst others.
