Mrs. Favour Ayuba, the grieving mother of late Promise Ayuba, who was killed by suspected terrorists in Jos, Plateau State, has expressed deep anguish, calling on her deceased son to avenge his death.

In a viral video seen on Friday, Mrs. Ayuba, speaking in an emotion-laden voice, revealed that she had not eaten since the Palm Sunday attack that claimed her son’s life. Earlier footage also showed her clutching his lifeless body, overwhelmed with sorrow after he was struck by bullets during the нападение.

The latest wave of violence in Plateau State occurred on March 29 in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, where gunmen attacked residents, killing at least 24 people and injuring several others.

Speaking in Hausa in the widely circulated video, Mrs. Ayuba brought out a cutlass wrapped in white cloth from beneath her garment and placed it inside her son’s coffin, symbolising her call for vengeance.

“If you want me to forget, my baby, avenge your death. I carried you for nine months and nursed you. I trust you to avenge me. Wherever they are, follow them and avenge your death,” she said amid intermittent sobs.

She also referenced the biblical figure Gideon, who went to war and returned victorious, drawing strength from the story.

“Today is your birthday. I thank God for your life. You do not like to see me cry, and I will try not to weep. I have not eaten since Sunday, but I promise I will eat from today,” she added.

Mrs. Ayuba further stated that she named her son Promise Gideon Ayuba, expressing hope and faith in the symbolism of his name even in death.
