TRUCK ACCIDENT CAUSES CHAOS AT TAKIE ROUNDABOUT IN OGBOMOSO

A fatal accident occurred on Monday afternoon at the Takie Roundabout in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, resulting in the death of a commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) and leaving his passenger severely injured. The incident caused heavy traffic congestion in the area.
The crash, which happened at about 2:00 p.m., was reportedly caused by a mechanical fault following a brake failure in a truck traveling from Lagos. The truck rammed into the motorcycle, killing the rider instantly, while the passenger narrowly escaped death but sustained serious injuries.
An eyewitness, Mr. Oladejo Olasunkanmi, a police officer who was on ground controlling traffic to avoid further tragedy, confirmed the casualty to ScoopChase. He said the injured victim was immediately taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Mr. Olasunkanmi expressed concern over the frequent accidents occurring in Ogbomoso, especially along the Takie axis, which he described as a “death trap” for both commuters and pedestrians. He called on the government to implement lasting solutions to curb the recurring incidents that have claimed countless lives.
