The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has received another remarkable boost to its infrastructure with the completion and donation of a state-of-the-art bakery, courtesy of distinguished philanthropist and entrepreneur, Alhaji Lamidi Monsur Ayoade, popularly known as Alhaji Èjìdé.

The commissioning ceremony, which took place this morning and was attended by top university officials, community leaders, and dignitaries, marked another milestone in LAUTECH’s ongoing development efforts — and in Alhaji Èjìdé’s enduring commitment to community upliftment.

In his remarks, Alhaji Èjìdé expressed profound gratitude to God for the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education and youth empowerment in Ogbomoso. He described the donation as a gesture of appreciation for his long-standing friendship with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, whose visionary leadership and tireless commitment to LAUTECH’s progress he praised highly.

“I am overwhelmed and deeply grateful to God for this privilege. Supporting LAUTECH gives me great joy because the institution plays a vital role in shaping our future leaders,” Alhaji Èjìdé said.

Reflecting on his journey as a successful businessman, Alhaji Èjìdé attributed his philanthropic drive to his achievements in the semovita industry, where he has earned nationwide recognition as the ‘King of Semo’ for over a decade.

“I see my success as an opportunity to give back to the society that made me,” he explained. “This bakery project is another way to empower students and the local community through skill acquisition and food production.”

He further announced his plan to renovate LAUTECH’s Department of Psychology within the next two weeks, reinforcing his commitment to the institution’s continuous growth. Alhaji Èjìdé also extended heartfelt appreciation to his friends and associates present, including Mrs. Olayinka Olanike Balogun, the Registrar of LAUTECH, and Dr. Imam Yunus Olusina Teliat Ayilara, the Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland.

In his response, Professor Kalilu lauded Alhaji Èjìdé’s generosity and longstanding friendship, describing him as “a true friend of the university and a man of uncommon vision.” He assured guests that the bakery would commence operations soon, creating opportunities for student training, revenue generation, and community engagement.
