Influential grassroots politician and respected community development advocate, Hon. Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Booda Sunday Adeyemo, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 4 of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oyo State.
His resignation was contained in a formal letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman and made available to the press. In the letter, Hon. Adeyemo expressed deep dissatisfaction with the direction the party has taken in recent years, declaring that it no longer reflects the values of integrity, accountability, and selfless service that initially drew him into politics.
“The murky waters of politics are increasingly being hijacked by some elements whose values and conduct do not align with the principles of integrity, accountability, and service,” the letter read.
Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting his resignation, Hon. Adeyemo elaborated on his decision, citing persistent neglect, impunity, and what he described as the high-handedness of the party’s leadership.
“What pushed me to resign was not just ideological. It was the arrogance of leadership, their highhandedness, and the continued neglect of loyal and committed financial members like myself,” he stated.
“People who have sacrificed their time, resources, and goodwill for the party are being sidelined, while individuals without grassroots legitimacy impose themselves through impunity. That is not the politics I signed up for.”
He disclosed that he had remained in the party for years in hopes of meaningful reform and reconciliation, but was left disillusioned as the internal situation worsened.
Hon. Adeyemo also revealed that he is currently in consultations with his supporters and key community leaders, and would soon unveil his next political move.
“In conjunction with my numerous faithful supporters, we shall, in due course, announce our next political move. Our commitment remains to the public good and the true progress of Ogbomoso South,” he affirmed.
Despite his departure, Hon. Adeyemo expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunity to serve and reiterated his unwavering dedication to the welfare and advancement of his constituency.
His resignation is already generating political ripples in the area, as many await his next move and the potential shift it may bring to the local political landscape.
