The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, has joined the nation and the world to celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day, assuring the staff of the institution of better welfare.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed also commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the “Renewed Hope Agenda” which current administration hinges on.
He noted that the education sector, like all other sectors of the economy, has witnessed tremendous improvements through different government policies.
In a statement on Thursday by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, the Rector also noted that workers are the oil that lubricates the smooth operation of any nation, government institution.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed said in the statement, “On this special occasion of Workers’ Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation and warmest regards to every member of our Polytechnic community. Today, we celebrate your resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions that sustain and elevate the standards of our institution.
“Your hard work—whether in administration, academics, technical support, or maintenance—forms the backbone of our success. I am proud of the commitment each of you shows daily in building a vibrant, inclusive, and progressive learning environment.
“This celebration reminds us of the importance of upholding the dignity of labour and ensuring that the rights and welfare of all workers are respected. Let us use this day not only to reflect on how far we’ve come, but also to renew our commitment to teamwork, excellence, and continuous development.”
Dr. Abdul-Hameed expressed the determination of the Management to ensure that the Polytechnic staff enjoy good welfare packages, including training and re-training which are aimed at widening the scope of their knowledge and experience.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed stated, “‘May Day’ or ‘Labour Day’ as often called, May 1 is set aside to celebrate the workers and recognise their contributions to the society at large, whether in the public or private sector or even in various trades.”
He, however, charged the entire workers of the Polytechnic to remain committed to their duties as critical stakeholders in the Federal Polytechnic Ayede project.
“The success of our Polytechnic, so far, would not have been made possible without the huge contributions of our teeming staff.
“So, on behalf of our Governing Council Chairman, Honourable Yakubu Dati (fnipr), Members of the Council, Principal Officers and Management and students, I celebrate the workers at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State on this great Workers’ Day,” Dr. Abdul-Hameed stated.
The Rector congratulated and commended the President and various stakeholders on the celebration.
“I want congratulate and commend Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa; Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad; Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Bugaje; Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Funds, Arc. Sonny Echono; Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and numerous stakeholders, including our ministries for your unalloyed supports under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” he said.
