The Asípa of Ogbomosoland, Lawyer Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle, OON, KJW, has described former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha, CFR, as a rare breed of leader whose greatest legacy lies not only in his accomplishments in public service but also in his humanity, humility and commitment to the development of others.
Adekunle stated this in a special tribute to his former boss as Mustapha clocks 70, joining his family, friends, professional colleagues, associates and admirers across the country in celebrating the landmark birthday.
The Asípa, who described attaining the age of 70 as a significant milestone worthy of gratitude to God, said the occasion provided an opportunity to celebrate a man whose life has been characterised by service, leadership, professionalism, philanthropy and an enduring concern for humanity.
Reflecting on his experience working under the former SGF, Adekunle said the opportunity to serve under Mustapha remained one of the defining experiences of his professional career.
He particularly praised his former boss for demonstrating that effective leadership goes beyond the authority attached to public office, stressing that the manner in which a leader treats people often constitutes his most enduring legacy.

“My dear Boss, beyond the high offices you occupied and the responsibilities you carried in the service of our nation, what has remained most memorable to me is the humanity you brought to leadership.
“Your courtesy in dealing with people, your deliberate attention to details, your commitment to monitoring activities and the calmness with which you handled difficult situations made serving under you both professionally enriching and personally instructive.
“I consider myself privileged to have worked under your leadership. The lessons I learnt from you about responsibility, discipline, leadership and human relations remain valuable to me.”
Adekunle also commended the celebrant for choosing to mark his 70th birthday in a manner that reinforces his commitment to education and human development, particularly through the dedication of the library complex of the proposed Lutheran University, Nigeria, in Demsa.
He described the project as a significant philanthropic intervention capable of making a lasting difference in the lives of students, researchers and future generations.
According to him, the value of such a gesture extends far beyond the physical infrastructure, because investment in a library is ultimately an investment in knowledge, intellectual development and the future of society.
He said the initiative exemplifies the philosophy of giving back to society and creating a legacy that will continue to benefit people long after the celebrant’s 70th birthday.
