The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Engineer Muftau Open Salau, has intensified his grassroots engagements across the Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso axis as part of efforts to mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
As part of the tour, Open Salau visited Iseyin, where he paid a courtesy call on a political elder and statesman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha. During the visit, he praised Mustapha for his wealth of political experience and longstanding contributions to political development in Oyo State and Nigeria.
Open Salau described the elder statesman as a political figure who had remained steadfast and principled in his dealings with people, particularly in demonstrating what he described as honesty of purpose. He appealed to him to encourage the people of Iseyin to support the APM governorship ticket of Honourable Bimbo Adekanbi and himself.
He also urged members of the Iseyin PMS to mobilise their supporters and ensure that their votes are substantial and united during the 2027 election.
The campaign tour subsequently moved to Ogbomoso Recreaction Club, where Open Salau welcomed some defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the APM. He assured the new members that they would be given a sense of belonging and opportunities to participate meaningfully in the affairs of the party.
In another engagement, Open Salau led his team to the palace of the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, His Royal Majesty Oba Francis Olusola Alao, where he sought the monarch’s support and appealed to him to encourage his subjects to consider the APM ticket.
Responding, Oba Alao described Open Salau as a reputable engineer, businessman and investor whom he had known for many years. The monarch expressed the view that the combination of Bimbo Adekanbi and Open Salau could attract investment and development to Oyo State.
The tour also included meetings with religious groups, during which Open Salau presented the APM’s political message and engaged participants on issues surrounding the 2027 governorship election.
