LAUTECH Reaffirms Strong Partnership with NELFUND, Clarifies Loan Disbursement Update The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has reaffirmed its cordial and productive relationship with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund following recent media interpretations regarding student loan disbursements. In a statement, the university expressed appreciation for NELFUND’s continued support, noting that more than ₦1.4 billion was successfully disbursed to its students in 2025. According to the institution, the intervention significantly reduced financial burdens and improved access to education for many students. Speaking during a pre-convocation press briefing, the university explained that about 19,000 students applied for the NELFUND scheme, while over 15,000 applications have already been verified in line with established procedures. The management further disclosed that within the current 2025/2026 academic session, a total of 5,237 students have been approved and are awaiting disbursement, while other verified applications remain at various stages of processing. LAUTECH clarified that parts of the update were misinterpreted in some quarters, creating the false impression that NELFUND was unwilling or unable to release funds. “The university wishes to state clearly that this is not the case. At no time did LAUTECH suggest any reluctance or failure on the part of NELFUND,” the statement said. The institution added that its intention was solely to highlight progress made so far and reassure stakeholders that the disbursement process remains ongoing and on course. LAUTECH reiterated its commitment to sustaining its partnership with NELFUND and other relevant stakeholders to ensure students continue to receive the financial support needed to pursue their academic goals. LAUTECH Graduates 7,641 Students at 18th Convocation Ceremony

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology on Wednesday held its 18th Convocation Ceremony at the Great Hall of the institution in Ogbomoso, drawing dignitaries, parents, relatives, and well-wishers from different walks of life.

Among the notable guests at the ceremony were the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Lawal, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, representatives of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, the Head of Service, Chairman Ladoke Akintola University Governing Council, Professor Ayodeji Omole, members of the university’s Governing Council. Also in attendance were pro-chancellors of other universities, principal officers, provosts, deans, directors, heads of departments, and members of the university senate.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, welcomed guests on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, staff, and students of the institution. He described the convocation as a significant milestone in the lives of both the university and the graduating students.

Professor Kalilu commended the graduands for their perseverance, resilience, and commitment throughout their academic journey, noting that they overcame several challenges to achieve success. He urged them to continue seeking knowledge, embrace new opportunities, and strive for excellence in their future endeavours.

The Vice-Chancellor announced that a total of 7,641 students graduated across various programmes, including bachelor’s degrees, Nursing Science, part-time, and distance learning programmes. Of the total number, 137 students earned First Class honours, 1,889 graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 3,549 with Second Class Lower Division, 1,008 with Third Class, while 37 students obtained Pass degrees.

In the Nursing Science category, 17 students graduated with Distinction, 973 with Credit, and 31 with Pass. The graduands were produced from 11 faculties of the institution.

He also announced Oladapo Caleb Olugbenga of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, as the overall best graduating student with a cumulative grade point average of 4.89. He was honoured with an award at the ceremony.

Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of cash prizes to outstanding graduating students from various faculties. The Vice-Chancellor attributed the university’s continued success to the dedication and hard work of members of staff.
