Renowned philanthropist and community leader, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, has donated a total of ₦10 million to Muslim communities in Ogbomoso as part of his Ramadan humanitarian interventions.

The donation was announced on the 13th day of Ramadan during the Tafsir programme held at the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosoland. At the event, Engr. Salawu distributed 100 bags of Semovita alongside ₦500,000 in cash to Tafsir attendees, while Imams and Muslim leaders received an additional ₦1 million.

Beyond the Tafsir programme, Engr. Salawu—who holds the traditional titles of Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, Giwa Adini of Oyo, Saraki Adini of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ogbomoso and environs, and Waziri Jari Nupe—has remained a consistent supporter of Islamic spiritual activities in the town.

He has been the chief promoter of the annual Itikaf programme at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque since its inception. Itikaf is an Islamic spiritual retreat observed during the last ten days of Ramadan, dedicated to worship, prayer, and Qur’anic recitation.

In sustaining this initiative, Engr. Salawu has made progressive financial contributions to the Ogbomoso Central Mosque Development Committee: ₦1 million in 2023, ₦1.2 million in 2024, ₦1.4 million in 2025, and a ₦2 million donation this year to support worshippers observing Itikaf.

Additionally, he provides free Iftar meals annually across three locations in Ogbomoso. In 2025, over 9,000 meals were served, with plans underway to increase the number to 10,000 quality Iftar meals during the current Ramadan.
