The Asipa of Ogbomosoland, High Chief Barrister Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle OON, KJW has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Ogbomosoland and beyond on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to uphold the Islamic virtues of peace, unity, sacrifice and love for humanity.

In a goodwill message made available to journalists on Friday, the respected Ogbomoso traditional chief described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred period of spiritual reflection, total submission to the will of Almighty Allah and a season that calls for renewed commitment to the teachings of Islam as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S).

High Chief Adekunle stated that the celebration should not merely be marked with merriment alone, but should also serve as an avenue for Muslims to strengthen the bond of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence and imbibe the spirit of camaraderie, compassion and mutual understanding among all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

According to him, “Islam is a religion of peace, mercy and righteousness. Allah commands believers to live in harmony, show kindness to neighbours, assist the less privileged and uphold justice at all times. At this critical period in the history of our dear nation, Nigerians must embrace tolerance, patience and unity in order to overcome the challenges confronting the country.”

He also appealed passionately to Nigerian youths to remain patient, resilient and law-abiding despite the prevailing economic and social challenges facing the country. He encouraged them to continue exhibiting good behaviour, discipline and patriotism, assuring them that something better is in the offing that would meaningfully improve their lives and future as true citizens of Nigeria.

High Chief Adekunle equally commended Nigerian women for their immeasurable contributions to national development, describing them as pillars of support in homes, communities and the larger society. He appreciated their steadfast commitment, sacrifices and fervent prayers which, according to him, have continued to sustain and strengthen the nation through difficult times.

He further called on Muslim faithful to continue offering fervent prayers for the progress, security and economic prosperity of the nation, praying that Allah in His infinite mercy would heal the land and free Nigeria from insecurity, unrest, hardship and all forms of social and political instability.

High Chief Adekunle equally urged the wealthy and privileged in society to extend hands of generosity to the needy during and after the festive season, noting that acts of charity and kindness attract divine blessings and mercy from Almighty Allah.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the sacrifices, supplications and acts of worship of all Muslim faithful, grant them long life, sound health, abundant peace, unending joy and prosperity, and spare their lives to witness many more Eid celebrations in happiness and fulfillment.
