The Principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle, Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has dismissed reports alleging that abductors of some school officials and students demanded a ransom of N1 billion, a Hilux vehicle, weapons, and the enforcement of Sharia law.

Mrs. Alamu, in a viral video believed to have been recorded from captivity, described the claims circulating in some sections of the media as false and misleading, warning that such unverified reports could frustrate ongoing efforts to secure the victims’ release.

She stated that since their abduction about 24 days ago, the abductors had not demanded money, vehicles, weapons, or any material items.

According to her, the only demand made by the abductors was the release of some of their associates currently being held in prison.

“Our abductors are not demanding money or material things. They only want some of their people in prison to be released,” she said.

Mrs. Alamu also denied reports that the victims were being subjected to religious coercion, stressing that the abductors had neither forced them to engage in Islamic worship nor spoken about the introduction of Sharia law.

“Since we have been captured, they have not forced us to worship in any Islamic way. They are not talking about Sharia law,” she stated.

The school principal further appealed to members of the public and the media to avoid spreading unverified information, noting that such reports could worsen the situation and endanger the lives of the captives.

“Those claims are only compounding the problems here. The reports being circulated in the media are not true. Please don’t waste our lives,” she appealed.

The clarification comes amid heightened public concern over the safety of the abducted victims and renewed calls for security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward ensuring their safe rescue.

Mrs. Alamu is the wife of Professor Wole Alamu of the Department of Forest Resources Management, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
