As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the House of Assembly hopeful of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogbomoso South State Constituency, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Booda Sunday Adeyemo (BSA), has intensified his grassroots engagement with the commencement of a solar-powered street light project across communities in the constituency.
The development has been widely described by residents and political observers as a practical demonstration of people-oriented leadership and a reflection of Adeyemo’s long-standing commitment to community development and social welfare.
The project, which commenced in the Oluwatedo Community, is expected to spread across other parts of Ogbomoso South, providing sustainable lighting for roads and residential areas, improving security, and boosting economic activities, particularly for traders and artisans who operate during evening hours.
Speaking at the inauguration of the project, Adeyemo said the initiative was conceived as part of his determination to complement government efforts and address some of the pressing infrastructural needs confronting communities within the constituency.
He maintained that leadership should be defined by service and practical interventions rather than mere political promises and rhetoric.
According to him, the solar street light project represents the beginning of a larger developmental vision aimed at transforming Ogbomoso South into one of the most secure and economically vibrant constituencies in Oyo State.
“We have started this initiative with the Oluwatedo Community, but our vision extends to every ward and every community in Ogbomoso South. No part of our constituency should remain in darkness. We want our people to move freely at night, conduct their businesses without fear, and enjoy the benefits of modern infrastructure,” he stated.
He added that adequate street lighting remains one of the most effective ways of curbing criminal activities, reducing security threats, and creating a conducive environment for socio-economic growth.
Adeyemo further reaffirmed his philosophy of service before politics, stressing that his humanitarian interventions over the years have always been driven by genuine concern for the welfare and progress of the people.
“I have consistently maintained that public service begins long before occupying public office. That conviction has inspired me to commit personal resources to projects that directly impact lives and bring development closer to our people. I will continue to pursue programmes that uplift the standard of living of our communities,” he added.
The latest intervention adds to a growing catalogue of humanitarian projects associated with the ADC chieftain, including educational support for indigent students, empowerment programmes for petty traders, food distribution to vulnerable households, and other community-centred initiatives across Ogbomoso South.
Residents who witnessed the installation of the solar facilities expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely and beneficial. They noted that several communities had for years grappled with poor illumination, exposing residents to security risks and limiting commercial activities after dusk.
Some community leaders also commended Adeyemo’s proactive approach to development, saying his actions demonstrate a practical understanding of the needs and aspirations of ordinary people at the grassroots.
Political analysts believe the project may further consolidate Adeyemo’s growing popularity within the constituency as the 2027 electoral contest approaches. They argue that his consistent humanitarian activities and visible community interventions have distinguished him as one of the emerging political figures whose leadership style resonates with the aspirations of the people.
