The Jeremiah–Felecia Aderoju Foundation, in partnership with the Executive Director and African Campaigner for a Drug-Free Society, yesterday held a high-impact seminar on Drug Abuse and Teenage Pregnancy at Eruwa Town Hall. The event, hosted under the leadership of Hon. Jacob Akintola, drew a large crowd of students, teachers, and community stakeholders, reflecting a growing desire for social reform in Ibarapa East.

With the maxim “Empowering youths, securing the future,” the programme delivered a compelling call for action, education, and sustained community engagement.
The Area Commander of the NDLEA, Ibarapa and Ido Command, Amb. DCN Akomolafe Adekola Ismaila, delivered a powerful keynote address, warning students about the devastating effects of drug abuse. His message urged young people to make informed decisions and champion a drug-free lifestyle.
His remarks drew rapt attention as he challenged youths to envision a future free from addiction and self-destruction.
A major highlight of the event was the induction of several students into the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Club. The new inductees took an oath of allegiance to promote a drug-free society and serve as ambassadors of positive change in their schools and communities.
The ceremony symbolized a renewed commitment to youth-led advocacy in the fight against substance abuse.
Facilitators engaged students in interactive sessions covering peer pressure, self-esteem, healthy choices, and the realities of teenage pregnancy.
The discussions created a safe space for students to express concerns and learn practical strategies for making responsible life decisions.
One of the most touching moments came when Mr. Ojo, father of twin babies who lost their mother during childbirth, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the foundation for supporting his children.
With visible emotion, he prayed for continued blessings upon the organization, drawing empathy from participants.
The Nigeria and Africa Coordinator of the Jeremiah–Felecia Aderoju Foundation, Hon. Jacob Oluwafemi Akintola, gave an overview of the foundation’s programmes and encouraged students to take their studies seriously.
He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to education, social development, and youth empowerment.
The Local Inspector of Education for Ibarapa East commended the foundation for its timely intervention, describing the seminar as a crucial step in addressing contemporary challenges facing teenagers.
He urged students to take advantage of the knowledge shared and pursue academic excellence.
In the closing remarks, the Executive Director emphasized the need for sustained awareness and education to curb the dangers of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
The seminar, he said, represents “a significant step toward building a safer, healthier community where young people can thrive.”
As the event concluded, students left the hall with renewed purpose, echoing Eleanor Roosevelt’s timeless reminder:
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
