The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso North Local Government has reacted to the recent defection of some of its members, describing the move as politically inconsequential and motivated by personal ambition rather than principle.

In a statement signed by the Party Secretary, Hon. Jimoh Sikiru Idowu, the PDP assured the public that the defections pose no threat to its structure, unity, or popularity within the council area. The party expressed gratitude to concerned members of the public for their continued support and confidence.

“The PDP is not a cathedral for desperate politicians who have no regard for the party’s constitution and organizational discipline. Their exit only underscores their lack of loyalty and commitment,” the statement read.

The party emphasized that those who left had never fully embodied the core values of discipline, loyalty, and service that define the PDP. It added that their departure would in no way derail the party’s ongoing efforts to promote good governance in alignment with Governor Seyi Makinde’s transformational agenda across Oyo State.

Reaffirming its readiness for the 2027 general elections, the PDP stated that its grassroots support in Ogbomoso North remains solid and unwavering. It predicted that the defectors would likely face rejection in their new political camps, citing their history of seeking public office without meaningful contributions to governance or party development.

The statement further praised Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, the Zonal Leader of the party, for his commendable developmental strides in Ogbomoso land, describing him as a shining example of purposeful leadership.

The PDP concluded by reaffirming its commitment to civility, issue-based politics, and people-oriented programmes, urging the public to remain confident in its leadership and dismiss the defections as a distraction from its broader mission.
