A renowned philanthropist, youth development advocate, and Chairman of the Twindad Foundation, Dr. Kunle Adegbite, has emerged as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Adegbite was officially affirmed as the party’s candidate during the NDC primary election held on Friday in Bodija, Ibadan. The exercise also produced candidates who will represent the party in various elective positions across the state during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking with journalists shortly after his emergence, the NDC standard-bearer expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to offer purposeful, responsive, and compassionate representation capable of addressing the needs and aspirations of the people of the constituency.
According to him, the people of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency have long yearned for effective representation that prioritises the welfare of the masses over personal interests.
“The time for compassionate and effective representation is now,” Adegbite declared. “Leadership must be about service, sacrifice, and commitment to the people rather than self-interest.”
The philanthropist also expressed deep concern over the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the incident as unfortunate and disturbing. He called on security agencies, government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to intensify efforts toward securing the immediate release of the abducted children and other victims currently held in captivity.
He stressed that the safety and security of citizens must remain a top priority, noting that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
Outlining his legislative agenda, Dr. Adegbite said his representation would focus on youth and women empowerment, human capital development, poverty reduction, and sustainable economic growth. He pledged to initiate programmes and support policies aimed at equipping young people with practical skills, entrepreneurial opportunities, and access to economic resources.
He further promised to promote sports development, educational advancement, and community-based initiatives that would improve the living standards of constituents and create opportunities for greater socio-economic prosperity across the federal constituency.
Dr. Adegbite reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, transparency, and grassroots development, assuring residents that their voices would be adequately represented at the national level if elected in 2027.
