The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the institution was shut down over fears of a possible bandit attack.
In a statement issued by the university authorities, the management described the claim as false, misleading and unfounded, assuring students, parents and guardians that academic activities are progressing normally on campus.
The institution clarified that there is presently no security threat warranting the closure of the university, stressing that students are currently writing their examinations without disruption. According to the statement, the examination exercise will continue as scheduled.
Management urged members of the public to disregard the rumour, noting that the spread of unverified information could create unnecessary panic among students, parents and residents of the university community.
The university further reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of all students and staff, while maintaining close monitoring of developments within and around the institution.
LAUTECH management, however, expressed regret over any anxiety or inconvenience the rumour might have caused concerned stakeholders.
