Dr. Azeez Popoola Adewolu Adeduntan-Onisile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Oyo State under the Make Oyo Great Again (MOGA) platform, has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to seek legal affirmation of his candidature ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
According to reports reaching our correspondent in Abuja, the suit was filed on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, by Dr. Adeduntan’s legal team as part of efforts to defend what his campaign describes as his legitimate mandate to contest the election.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Adeduntan, in a statement, expressed confidence in the judicial process and said his campaign would continue its activities without distraction.
“In light of the foregoing, let no one be in doubt that the ADEDUNTAN 2027 OYO STATE GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN is steaming ahead, together with increased visibility of our campaign council, unshaken in my faith in God that we will be victorious in the temple of justice — the Federal High Court, Abuja,” he said.
The surgeon-turned-politician and former Oyo State Commissioner for Health expressed optimism that the judiciary would uphold what his campaign describes as the legitimacy of his candidature.
He also said the MOGA campaign council would continue its mobilisation and grassroots engagement across the state’s 33 local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Adeduntan concluded his statement with a call for unity and continued support for his political aspiration, declaring, “Long live Oyo State. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
