The lawmaker representing Ogbomoso South State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Onaolapo Adedoyin, has reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, declaring that his quest for another term is driven by a desire to consolidate on his achievements and advance sustainable development across the constituency.
Speaking during an interview with journalists, Adedoyin described public office as a sacred trust, stressing that effective leadership should be measured by integrity, accessibility and tangible impact rather than political rhetoric.
According to him, his years in the legislature have been guided by the principle of listening to the people, understanding their needs and providing practical solutions through responsive representation.
The lawmaker said his stewardship has focused on legislative advocacy, oversight and constituency engagement in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, workers’ welfare, security, environmental sustainability, digital governance and infrastructure development.
He noted that beyond sponsoring motions and participating in debates, he has facilitated employment opportunities, educational support programmes and community development initiatives while maintaining close relationships with traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations, youth organisations and other stakeholders across Ogbomoso South.
Adedoyin stated that if re-elected, his legislative agenda would continue to prioritise six critical areas: education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, healthcare, security, and transparency and accountability.
He pledged to champion policies that would strengthen educational facilities, expand scholarships and bursaries, improve access to quality healthcare, promote entrepreneurship and vocational training, facilitate infrastructure projects and enhance community security.
The lawmaker also emphasised the importance of legislative continuity, arguing that experience remains a vital asset in effective lawmaking.
According to him, sustained service enables legislators to build institutional knowledge, strengthen relationships with government agencies and improve their capacity to negotiate projects and programmes that directly benefit their constituents.
He explained that continuity in office allows lawmakers to move beyond laying foundations to delivering long-term and sustainable development.
Adedoyin further advocated a governance model that prioritises social protection through legislation, saying the role of lawmakers extends beyond attracting physical projects to creating enduring legal frameworks that protect citizens from economic hardship and social vulnerability.
He called for stronger laws to improve access to quality education, scholarships, digital learning opportunities and skills acquisition for children and students, while also advocating policies that promote youth entrepreneurship, innovation, vocational training, access to finance and employment opportunities.
On the welfare of senior citizens, the lawmaker said government must adopt policies that guarantee dignity, affordable healthcare and adequate social support for the elderly.
He also urged greater legislative attention to healthcare for children and senior citizens, advocating free or highly subsidised primary healthcare services backed by sustainable funding.
Speaking on agriculture, Adedoyin called for stronger legislative interventions to protect farmers against fluctuating market prices, climate-related risks and rising production costs.
He proposed policies to strengthen agricultural insurance, improve farmers’ access to affordable credit, support commodity marketing systems and establish intervention programmes capable of cushioning economic losses during difficult periods.
According to him, protecting farmers is essential to sustaining food production, strengthening rural economies and safeguarding national food security.
The Oyo lawmaker stressed that the next phase of governance should focus on building institutions and enacting laws that would outlive individual administrations and continue to improve the lives of future generations.
While acknowledging that progress has been made during his tenure, Adedoyin maintained that much more remains to be accomplished.
He assured residents that, if given another mandate, he would continue to pursue people-oriented legislation, strengthen stakeholder engagement and consolidate on the developmental foundations already laid.
He also emphasised that sustainable development requires collaboration among government, traditional institutions, community leaders, professionals, artisans, youths, women and other stakeholders.
“Our work is not finished,” he declared. “I will continue to listen, continue to serve and continue to deliver. With the trust of the people, we can build a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive Ogbomoso South.”
Adedoyin concluded by expressing optimism that collective efforts between government and the people would accelerate development and create lasting opportunities for future generations across Ogbomoso South.
