The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has called for the establishment of 10 additional police stations across Ogbomosoland and the revitalisation of the Police College in Ogbomoso as part of efforts to strengthen security and accelerate development in the ancient city.

The monarch made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, alongside prominent sons of Ogbomosoland, including Prof. Shola Adepoju, the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland; Sir Olusegun Adekunle, the Ashipa of Ogbomosoland; Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi, the Okanlomo of Ogbomosoland; Lt. Col. Oyemade Oyewumi; and Rev. Niyi Adebayo.
Oba Olaoye commended the Inspector-General for his warm reception, openness, and willingness to engage on issues affecting the peace, security, and future of Ogbomosoland.
According to the monarch, discussions during the meeting centred on practical measures to improve security architecture in the region and foster an environment conducive to economic growth and social development.
He stressed that security remains the foundation of meaningful development, noting that no community can attain sustainable progress without the protection of lives and property.
The royal father urged the Nigeria Police Force to establish 10 additional police stations in strategic locations across Ogbomosoland and ensure that the facilities are adequately staffed and equipped to enhance security coverage and improve emergency response.
Oba Olaoye also appealed for the full restoration and operation of the Police College in Ogbomoso, describing the institution as a vital asset to national security development and local economic growth.
He said a functional police college would strengthen the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force while boosting economic activities within Ogbomoso and reaffirming the city’s strategic role in the country’s security framework.
The monarch assured the Inspector-General of the readiness of the people of Ogbomosoland to partner with the police through community-based initiatives, intelligence sharing, and other collaborative efforts aimed at improving safety and security.
A significant aspect of the engagement was the continued captivity of some residents, which the delegation described as a painful concern for the entire community.
Oba Olaoye passionately appealed to the police authorities to intensify efforts and deploy all necessary resources toward securing the safe and speedy rescue of those still in captivity.
He maintained that every human life is precious and expressed hope that the security agencies would succeed in reuniting the victims with their families.
The traditional ruler further expressed optimism following the assurances received from the Inspector-General, noting that stronger collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, government, community leaders, and residents would help address the security challenges confronting the region.
He urged residents of Ogbomosoland to remain vigilant, support law enforcement agencies with credible information, and continue to pray for peace and stability across the land.
Oba Olaoye expressed confidence that with collective effort and divine guidance, Ogbomosoland would continue on the path of peace, security, prosperity, and sustainable development.
