AsMuslims around the world celebrate the dawn of the Islamic New Year, 1447 After Hijrah (A.H.), the Founder of the Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria (ISBON), Alhaji Monzur Ayòadé Èjìdé, has called on the Muslim Ummah to uphold the core Islamic values of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.
In a message to mark the new Islamic calendar year, Alhaji Èjìdé congratulated Muslims for witnessing what he described as a spiritually significant milestone, urging reflection on the deeper meaning of Hijrah—the Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina.
“The Hijrah was more than a physical journey; it symbolized faith, sacrifice, and peaceful transformation,” he noted. “As we enter 1447 A.H., Muslims must renew their commitment to peace and unity, guided by the lessons of patience, respect, and devotion embedded in the Hijrah experience.”
Alhaji Èjìdé, who is also the CEO of Èjìdé Enterprises and a well-known advocate for youth empowerment and community development, emphasized the importance of religious harmony in Nigeria’s multi-faith society. He encouraged Islamic scholars and leaders to actively use their platforms to promote peaceful coexistence and denounce all forms of division and extremism.
“In a diverse society like ours, we must all work—whether as leaders, or ordinary citizens—to nurture understanding and compassion,” he stated. “Islam teaches us to deal justly and kindly with others, regardless of their faith or background. Let the spirit of Hijrah inspire our actions moving forward.”
He concluded his message with prayers for a prosperous and peaceful year for all Nigerians, expressing hope that 1447 A.H. would usher in national healing, economic growth, and divine mercy across the land.
