The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, has issued a public disclaimer regarding the existence of a fake social media account impersonating the institution’s Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE).

According to a statement released by the Acting Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr. Sunday Adepoju (anipr), the fraudulent account is operating under the name “Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele” and features the image of the Rector.

“The account is entirely unauthorized and does not in any way represent the views, opinions, or official communications of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede,” the statement read.

The management has cautioned members of the Polytechnic community and the general public to disregard any posts, messages, or communications originating from the said account. It described the platform as fraudulent and warned against sharing or responding to any messages from it.

Adepoju emphasized the importance of verifying all official communications through the Polytechnic’s verified social media platforms and official website. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activity related to the matter.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the public in helping us preserve the integrity and reputation of our institution,” the statement concluded.
