Former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oloye Oyebisi Ilaka, has debunked rumours of his defection from the party, describing the report as completely false and misleading.

In a phone interview with ScoopChase on Friday, Ilaka — who holds the traditional title of Ladilu of Oyo Kingdom and remains a prominent figure in Oyo State politics — reiterated his commitment to the PDP, affirming that he remains a bonafide and loyal member of the party.

“I remain a bonafide and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party. The rumours making the rounds about my defection are entirely false and should be disregarded by the public and party faithful,” Ilaka said.

Ilaka, who contested the Oyo Central Senatorial seat under the PDP in the 2023 general elections, called on his supporters across the state to remain calm and focused, urging them not to be distracted by the false reports.

He also reaffirmed his unwavering support for the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and expressed his continued dedication to the progress, unity, and success of the PDP in Oyo State.

“My allegiance to the PDP is not in doubt. I am committed to working with Governor Makinde and other stakeholders to further strengthen the party and deliver on its promises to the people,” he added.
