Makinde pledges to position LAUTECH for greater competitiveness Visitor to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, has promised that his government is poised to further enhance the potentials and capability of the University to play in the prime. Represented by his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Makinde who spoke at the grand finale of the 17th Convocation Ceremonies and 35th founders day anniversary of the Institution expressed satisfaction with the Governing Council of the University under Professor Ayodeji Oludare Omole and Management. He noted the various achievements of the University particularly since the State took over full ownership and promised that his administration is committed to further investing in LAUTECH to enable it move mountains. The most delightful development would be in seeing LAUTECH rant among the 50 best Universities globally and this is achievable considering what we envisioned for the Institution. Earlier in his address to congregation, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Razaq Rom Kalilu had reported that scholars of the Institution, are making significant breakthroughs. “Twenty-three of our researchers severally won the TETFund for Institution Based Research for research in various fields. E also added that Two teams of researchers led by Professors J. A. Badmus and E. A. Adebayo won the National Research Fund respectively for Development of Indigenous Non-Caffeinated Herbal Leaves for Reduction of Non-Communicable Diseases, and Production of Mushroom for Development of Novel Immune Booster. Similarly, the Form and Material Technology team led by Professor R. O. R.” Kalilu has successfully developed stone ware ceramic glazes from horticulture and animal wastes and cullet. According to him, “In sports, our athletes have been keeping the flag of the University flying. In the 1lth Al Africa University Games (FASU) held in September 2024, of the 69 universities from all over Africa that participated in the games, LAUTECH came 11th with 4 Gold, 1Silver, and 5 Bronze medals. Two of our athletes have qualified to represent Nigeria in the World University Games (FISU) coming up in Germany in July 2025. He said “It is noteworthy that the University’s rating and ranking has been on continuous ascent since 2023. In 2025, in the Times Higher Education’s World University Ranking, it retains its position as the best state university in Nigeria. 12 minutes ago
