The Founder of the Maigida Charity Foundation, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida, has condemned the recent bandit attacks in Orire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Dr. Samson Adegoke, in a release through his Media Chief, Adegboyega Ogunosun, stated that the calculated and systematic infiltration of bandits and other notorious criminal groups into the South-West region of Nigeria is not only unacceptable but also condemnable in the strongest terms.
He described the attack on innocent teachers, students, and pupils of community schools in Orire Local Government Area as “grievously barbaric, devilish, and inhumane.”
Dr. Adegoke warned that if the menace is not seriously contained and strongly resisted, “soon the bandits may begin grounding our cities and towns,” noting that an attack on Orire is a direct attack on Ogbomoso.
He lamented the high level of insecurity in the country generally, while expressing fears that the hitherto safest South-West region is now under attacks of unimaginable magnitude.
“Our South-West region, which hitherto has been super safe, impregnable, and peacefully loyal, has suddenly become porous and unsafe, with looming fears in many communities,” he noted.
Dr. Adegoke called on all security operatives in the South-West, alongside traditional security outfits, to intensify efforts towards rescuing all kidnapped persons in Orire Local Government Area.
He also sent his condolences and sympathies to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the families of those directly affected, as well as the Paramount Ruler of Ogbomoso Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, and other royal fathers.
Finally, Dr. Adegoke called for total vigilance among residents in every community across the country by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities to the appropriate authorities.
He stressed that an effective community security architecture must be closely connected with the people, noting that information gathering and community surveillance are most effective when driven by members of the community.
