Barely five years after its establishment, Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, has emerged as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising tertiary institutions, steadily carving a reputation for academic excellence, innovation, and industry-relevant training.

Established on January 29, 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Polytechnic has, from inception, been driven by a clear vision anchored on quality education and practical skills development. That vision has been championed by its pioneer Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul‑Hameed, FNSE—an accomplished academic, technologist, and administrator with deep expertise in engineering production and technology management.

Since his appointment in 2021, Engr. Dr. Abdul-Hameed has provided purposeful leadership that has positioned the institution as a model for both newly established and older Federal Polytechnics across the country. Under his stewardship, Federal Polytechnic Ayede has evolved into a hub of teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills acquisition—priorities carefully aligned with national development needs and industry relevance.

This steady rise has made the institution increasingly attractive to parents and guardians seeking quality tertiary education that blends formal academic instruction with entrepreneurship training and industry exposure for self-reliance.

A major milestone in the Polytechnic’s young history was recorded on February 12, 2026, when it held its combined maiden convocation for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions at its Permanent Site in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State. At the ceremony, 325 students were awarded National Diplomas alongside prizes for academic excellence—clear evidence of the institution’s commitment to quality outcomes.

Among the standout graduates were Miss Taiwo Ibunkunleoluwa Arionola of Science Laboratory Technology and Mr. Olapese Ayofe of Agricultural Technology, who both emerged as overall best graduating students with impressive CGPAs of 3.96 for their respective sessions.

The Polytechnic’s growing national recognition was further affirmed in 2025 when it was ranked 7th among the Top 10 institutions nationwide by Pole Global Marketing for the Federal Ministry of Education. This achievement reflects the Rector’s leadership, the dedication of the Academic Board, the Governing Council, Deans, and the entire workforce committed to building a true citadel of learning.

In addition, significant infrastructural development—spanning administrative and academic facilities—has been executed through TETFund interventions, alongside improved student support initiatives, including access to NELFUND. These investments have created an enabling environment for teaching, learning, and research.

Today, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed has not only justified the confidence reposed in him but has also made Oyo State and Nigeria proud by firmly placing Federal Polytechnic Ayede on a sustainable path of accelerated academic excellence.
