Engineer Muftau Open Salau Mourns Victims, Calls for Stronger Security After Orire School Abduction

Deputy Governorship hopeful , illustrious son of Ogbomoso and prominent technocrat, Engineer Muftau Open Salau FNSE, has expressed deep sorrow and emotional pain over the recent abduction incident that occurred in Aworo Esiele area of Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the tragic development as heartbreaking, traumatic and deeply disturbing.

Engineer Salau stated that since the unfortunate incident happened on Friday, he has remained emotionally devastated by the painful reality confronting the affected families, students, teachers and the entire community. According to him, the news of the abduction has left him sleepless and burdened with grief, especially considering the anguish currently being experienced by parents and relatives of the victims.

Speaking after visiting the affected community alongside the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Barrister Bayo Lawal, and other top government officials, Engineer Salau said the visit was necessary in order to assess the situation firsthand, sympathize with the victims’ families and reassure residents that the government has not abandoned them in this difficult moment.

He noted that the tragedy goes beyond politics or geographical affiliation, stressing that his pain is intensified because the incident occurred within his own area. However, he emphasized that his sadness is more rooted in humanity and parenthood, adding that no father, mother or guardian deserves to endure the agony of uncertainty over the whereabouts and safety of their loved ones.

According to him, “This is a painful experience I would never wish on any family. The tears, fears and emotional trauma the parents and relatives are passing through are unimaginable. Seeing the sorrow on the faces of community members was deeply touching and heartbreaking.”

Engineer Salau expressed confidence in the commitment of the Oyo State Government toward securing the safe return of all abducted persons, assuring residents that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde remains highly concerned and actively engaged in addressing the security challenge.

He commended Governor Makinde for consistently prioritizing security across the state, noting that Oyo State has continued to maintain its reputation as one of the safest states in the Southwest due to deliberate investments in security architecture, logistics support and intelligence gathering.

The respected engineer and public administrator further stressed that the unfortunate incident once again highlights the urgent need for state policing and a more localized security structure capable of responding swiftly and effectively to emerging threats within communities.

He explained that insecurity has become a national concern requiring practical reforms, collaboration among security agencies and increased support for grassroots intelligence networks in order to effectively combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes threatening peace across the country.

Engineer Salau, however, called on residents to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security operatives, while avoiding the spread of misinformation capable of escalating tensions within the affected communities.

He equally extended his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families, relatives and loved ones of the victims, praying fervently for divine protection and the safe reunion of all abducted persons with their families.

“As we share in the pain of these families, we must continue to pray and support ongoing efforts to bring every abducted victim back home safely. My thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families and the entire people of Orire Local Government during this painful period,” he said.
