A new historical documentary highlighting the migration, settlement and contributions of the Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ people in Jos, Plateau State, is set for public release, as its producer, Mr. Johnson Akínrìnadé Okùnadé, has formally notified stakeholders of the project.
Titled “A Road From Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ to Jos,” the documentary captures the remarkable story of how generations of Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ indigenes established a second home in Jos, where they lived, worked and made significant contributions to the social and economic development of Plateau State.
According to Okùnadé, the project is the outcome of over two years of extensive research and interviews with distinguished sons and daughters of Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ who resided in Jos, as well as returnees who later settled back in their hometown. He explained that the documentary presents firsthand accounts aimed at preserving a vital chapter of the history of the Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ people for both present and future generations.
He noted that the initiative was driven by a passion for Yoruba history and cultural preservation, stressing that documenting the migration experience of the people remains an important contribution to safeguarding the heritage and identity of Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́.
Okùnadé said it was necessary to formally inform respected historians, cultural enthusiasts and prominent sons and daughters of Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ about the documentary ahead of its public unveiling, in recognition of their commitment to preserving the community’s rich history and traditions.
He disclosed that arrangements are being concluded for the screening of the documentary in both Jos and Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́, adding that the official dates and venues would be announced in due course.
The producer appealed to community leaders, historians and other stakeholders for their guidance, support and prayers to ensure the successful completion and lasting impact of the documentary, expressing optimism that it would serve as an enduring historical resource for generations to come.
