The lawmaker representing Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, has strongly condemned the abduction of students and teachers in Ahoro Esiele Community of Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the attack as barbaric, inhumane and a direct assault on the future of the society.

In a statement made available to journalists, the federal lawmaker expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident which occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026, and also mourned the teachers who reportedly lost their lives during the attack.

Prince Adeyemi noted that the attack has thrown families, communities and the entire state into grief, stressing that no society can make meaningful progress under an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, especially when schools and innocent children become targets of criminal elements.

According to him, the pain being experienced by parents and relatives of the abducted victims is unimaginable, adding that the entire Ogbomoso zone and Oyo State stand united with the affected communities during this difficult moment.

He commended the courage and sacrifice of the teachers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, describing them as heroes who remained committed to shaping the future of younger generations despite the growing security challenges confronting the nation.

The lawmaker further disclosed that he has maintained regular communication with Olamiju Alao-Akala, whose constituency covers the affected communities, alongside traditional rulers, community leaders and relevant stakeholders, in order to provide support and ensure coordinated efforts towards the safe rescue of those still in captivity.

Prince Adeyemi emphasized that beyond public condemnation, meaningful steps are already being taken through collaboration with security agencies at both the federal and state levels. He stated that intelligence gathering, surveillance operations and strategic engagements are ongoing to ensure that the abducted students and teachers regain their freedom unharmed.

He also called on residents of the affected communities and members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security operatives by providing credible information capable of assisting ongoing rescue operations.

While sympathizing with families of the deceased teachers and kidnapped victims, the lawmaker urged the government at all levels to intensify efforts towards strengthening security architecture around rural communities and educational institutions, noting that schools must never become theatres of violence and terror.

Prince Adeyemi reiterated that the security and welfare of citizens remain the primary responsibility of government, adding that the ugly incident in Oriire should serve as a wake-up call for stronger synergy among security agencies, local vigilante groups and community leaders.

He, however, expressed optimism that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would soon be apprehended and brought to justice, while all necessary measures would be implemented to prevent future recurrence.

“My thoughts and prayers remain with the victims, their families and the entire people of Oriire Local Government during this painful period,” the statement added.
