Leadership is not a matter of age. It is defined by intuition, charisma, prodigious knowledge, administrative acumen, and the ability to add value to human lives. In his commitment to combating drug abuse and discouraging youth from destructive habits such as smoking hemp, heroin, cocaine, Colorado, gum, and other dangerous substances, the Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oyo State, Hon. Oyedokun, has today, collaborated with the NDLEA and key stakeholders to organize a sensitization walk against drug abuse. The event also marked the launch of a school awareness campaign across the local government.
Hon. Oyedokun emphasized that no society can achieve peace and progress when its youth are trapped in drug abuse. He noted that many brilliant young people who could have contributed to national growth in science, technology, arts, crafts, and culture have had their lives derailed by drugs and alcohol. He stressed that drug abuse must be curbed and uprooted from its roots, adding that a developed nation is built by developing brilliant minds dedicated to its progress and upliftment.
In company with NDLEA officials, the chairman stated that the fight against drug abuse cannot be won with words alone. He advocated for sustained sensitization in schools, motor parks, and public spaces. He also recommended printing anti-drug messages on exercise books, flyers, and other materials that can be distributed to students to promote a drug-free society.
