The University of Ibadan (UI) has commenced a special screening and verification exercise for all Post-UTME candidates who have switched their mode of study to the UI Open Distance eLearning (ODeL) Centre.
In a statement, the Director of UI DLC, Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, described the exercise as a unique opportunity for qualified candidates nationwide who may not have secured admission through JAMB or traditional on-campus studies at the prestigious institution.
According to him, candidates are required to update their records via https://modeofstudy.ui.edu.ng/putme. After updating, they may either choose online verification through their portal or visit the Admissions Office at the UIDLC Administrative Building Complex, University of Ibadan Extension, Sasa-Ajibode Road, for physical verification. Interactive sessions commence immediately.
Prof. Omobowale further encouraged new applicants to seize the opportunity by applying directly through https://modeofstudy.ui.edu.ng to obtain a reputable UI degree through the flexible, technology-enabled ODeL mode.
“The ODeL learning model provides blended experiences including interactive course guides, real-time virtual lectures on Mobile Class, and enhanced physical revision sessions with the same UI faculty members, supported by dedicated E-Tutors. This robust academic environment is designed to suit diverse lifestyles, particularly young entrepreneurs and working professionals,” he explained.
Candidates must, however, possess a minimum of five relevant O’Level credits in one sitting or six credits in two sittings.
Omobowale also announced that new and incoming students are expected to attend an orientation exercise on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the CBT Complex, UIDLC. The orientation will cover academic policies, access to campus resources, and available student support services.
“It is also an excellent chance to connect with faculty and fellow students, ensuring a smooth start to your academic journey,” he added.
The special admission window will close at midnight on Friday, October 10, 2025.
