A fatal road accident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Takie Roundabout Junction in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, leaving one person dead and several others injured. The incident also caused heavy traffic congestion and significant damage to nearby shops and vehicles.
The crash, which occurred at about 6:30 p.m., involved a truck reportedly coming from Bowel Trunk “B”. According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle lost control due to brake failure, veered off the road, and rammed into the frontage of Akanni Bookshop. It subsequently collided with another truck and a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNH 853 SB.
The impact of the collision forced the vehicles into adjoining structures, including the Ogbomoso Post Office and a phone accessory shop identified as Success Communication.
An eyewitness, Mr. Ojo Taiwo, told ScoopChase that one person died at the scene while several others sustained various degrees of injuries. The injured victims were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
“This is not the first time such a tragic incident has occurred at Takie Roundabout. We are appealing to the government to provide a lasting solution to the recurring accidents in this area,” Mr. Taiwo lamented.
As of the time of filing this report, the wreckage of the trucks and the Toyota Corolla remained at the scene, awaiting evacuation. Motorists and pedestrians were advised to exercise caution when passing through the area to prevent further mishaps.
