A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State, Prince Felix Akande, has resigned his membership from the party, citing unresolved internal crises and deep-seated disagreements.
In a resignation letter dated April 7, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ijeru Ward 5, Akande announced his immediate withdrawal from the PDP. He explained that his decision was informed by “protracted and irreconcilable differences” within the party.

Akande noted that the situation in the party had “degenerated into a quagmire of confusion,” making it untenable for him to continue his association with the PDP.
Despite his exit, he extended goodwill to the party’s leadership and members, wishing them success in their future political engagements.
Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to key stakeholders, including the PDP Chairman in Ogbomoso South Local Government, the Executive Chairman of the council, and the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Akande’s resignation is the latest in a series of political realignments in Ogbomoso and Oyo State, as politicians begin early strategic positioning ahead of forthcoming elections.
Political observers say the development may impact the PDP’s grassroots structure in Ogbomoso South, particularly if it leads to further defections or shifts in allegiance within the ward and the local government.
