The initiator of Ori Africa – a non Governmental Organization (NGO), and cultural renaissance outfit, Chief Pèkun Oláléye, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the arts and cultural heritage sector during a courtesy visit to his alma mater, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

Chief Oláléye, an alumnus of the institution’s Department of Fine and Applied Arts, was received by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olatunde R.O.M. Kalilu, an internationally acclaimed art historian, fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists, and member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Pèkun Oláléye described it as “a privilege and an honour” to return to the prestigious institution where he honed his skills in Arts Technology. He lauded LAUTECH as one of the most reputable universities in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
He pledged to contribute his quota towards the university’s development—particularly in promoting the arts department to international platforms. “Ori Africa is committed to projecting African cultural identity globally, and LAUTECH will remain a strategic partner in that mission,” he stated.
In his response, Professor Kalilu commended the vision behind Ori Africa, describing it as “a laudable stride towards showcasing the ingenuity of Nigeria and Africa to the world.” He assured Chief Oláléye of the university’s unflinching support, noting that such initiatives align with the global mission of Africans taking ownership of their innovations and cultural narratives.
Chief Oláléye also reconnected with the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, where the Head of Department, Dr. Akinde, warmly welcomed him and his team. Dr. Akinde praised Pèkun’s passion, courage, and enduring pride as an alumnus, describing him as “an art guru whose dedication to heritage preservation is exemplary.”
According to him, Ori Africa aims to deeply root African people—especially the youth—in their cultural identity, connecting them to their ancestors while inspiring transformation. The initiative seeks to translate African stories of the past and present into global platforms for education, enterprise, and innovation through immersive cultural journeys, digital archives, and collaborative heritage projects.
