The Ogbomoso Valiant Club has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the long-standing call for the creation of a new Oyo State, with Ogbomoso as the state capital. This renewed advocacy was championed by the Club’s President, Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (Rtd.), during the celebration of the club’s 10th anniversary.

Rear Admiral Ajani, a retired naval officer and prominent son of Ogbomoso, has remained consistent in his push for the socio-political elevation of the ancient city. Since assuming office as president of the Ogbomoso Valiant Club, he has been widely recognized for his resolute leadership and tireless efforts toward the development of Ogbomoso.

Under his stewardship, the club continues to lead various initiatives aimed at enhancing the city’s prospects, especially the realization of its aspiration to become a state capital. Ajani’s strategic vision and commitment to progressive governance have earned him accolades from both local and international members of the club.

The Ogbomoso Valiant Club, founded in November 2014 following the passing of Brigadier General Benjamin Adekunle (Rtd.), was established as a platform to unite Ogbomoso sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora — particularly those serving or retired from Nigeria’s various uniformed services.

Speaking at the club’s 10th anniversary celebration, Rear Admiral Ajani emphasized the need for continued unity and collective action among indigenes in order to advance the dream of state creation. He described the anniversary not only as a milestone but as an opportunity to give back to the community.

The week-long celebration featured a range of impactful community-focused activities, including free medical check-ups, the distribution of eyeglasses to residents with visual challenges, and the presentation of bursaries to deserving students across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso. Students at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels benefited from the bursary scheme.

Additionally, the club visited orphanage homes and disability centres, where food items and medical supplies were donated. A medical outreach to physically challenged individuals rounded off the humanitarian activities marking the anniversary.

Rear Admiral Ajani attributed the club’s remarkable achievements over the past decade to the dedication, loyalty, and cooperative spirit of its members, whom he described as men and women of honour, discipline, and integrity.

“The Ogbomoso Valiant Club is not just a gathering of people, but a body of distinguished personalities committed to making our city a model for others in Oyo State and Nigeria at large,” he stated.

As the club looks forward to the next decade, its focus remains clear: championing the creation of a new state with Ogbomoso as its capital, and working collectively to uplift the ancient city through strategic interventions and leadership excellence.
