Ogbomoso First Group Concludes Quarter 15 of “Tiwantiwa Programme,” Prepares for New Episodes

The 15th quarter of the Tiwantiwa programme, proudly sponsored by the Ogbomoso First Group, concluded yesterday with a comprehensive review of all 13 episodes. Throughout the quarter, various topics were discussed with insights from expert resource persons drawn from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso; The Federal Polytechnic, Ayédé, Ogbomoso; private organizations, hospitals, law firms, and distinguished individuals, among others.

The Tiwantiwa programme, initiated and fully endorsed by the Ogbomoso First Group two years ago, is the brainchild of the Group’s incumbent president, Sir Olusegun Adéyemí Adékúnlé. For those unfamiliar with the organization, Ogbomoso First Group is a socio-cultural body committed to the development, progress, and upliftment of Ogbomoso. Among its core objectives is the eradication of crime, drug abuse, and other unlawful activities that threaten the peace of the ancient city.

Since its inception, the Group has made significant contributions to Ogbomoso’s development. It has championed campaigns against HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, and COVID-19 while providing empowerment initiatives worth millions of naira to underprivileged individuals in Ogbomoso and its environs. Additionally, the Group played a pivotal role in supporting the first-ever Ogbomoso Cradle Festival, an initiative of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, Soun of Ogbomosoland.

Another remarkable achievement of the Group is the establishment of the Behavioural Action Care Centre at Oke-Òsùrù in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oyo State. The fully equipped facility, furnished with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment and accommodation, is dedicated to rehabilitating children affected by drug addiction and substance abuse.

Recognizing the power of communication in educating and enlightening the public, the Group launched the Tiwantiwa programme two years ago on Ajilete FM 92.1, located in Gambari near Ogbomoso. The programme engages resource persons from within and outside Ogbomoso to discuss crucial topics that inform, educate, and sensitize the public. Furthermore, the show is live-streamed across digital platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Twitter, ensuring a global reach.

Looking ahead, the Group has already scheduled another 13 episodes in the coming weeks, promising more impactful discussions that will benefit the people of Ogbomoso and beyond.
