The fight against drug and substance abuse in Ibarapa land has gained new momentum as Commander A.I. Akomolafe, the recently appointed Ibarapa Area Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has appealed for total community support and cooperation.

According to a release signed by the Olu of Igbo-Ora Palace Media Unit, Commander Akomolafe made the appeal during a community engagement meeting held at the Igbo-Ora Community Town Hall, Sagan-un. He formally introduced himself and pledged to work closely with traditional rulers, opinion leaders, youth groups, religious bodies, and security stakeholders to achieve a drug-free Ibarapa.

He stressed that drug abuse poses a grave threat to the future of Nigerian youths and undermines peace and development in society. While assuring residents that the NDLEA would intensify its operations, he emphasized that lasting success depends on collective effort.

“We are here to work for you and with you. The fight against drugs is not NDLEA’s responsibility alone; it is a shared duty. With your support, we can protect our youths, safeguard our communities, and build a healthier society,” Akomolafe said.

Welcoming the Commander, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye Asoroolu Ayinla V, the Olu of Igbo-Ora and Chairman of the Ibarapa Central Traditional Council, lauded the NDLEA’s commitment to safeguarding communities nationwide. He pledged the unwavering support of traditional institutions across Ibarapa for the agency’s mission and subsequently invited contributions from stakeholders.
