Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, as the Permanent Chairman of the Surulere Local Government Traditional Council.
The appointment, which confers on the Olugbon the Power of Prescribed Authority, was conveyed in a letter addressed to the monarch by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

According to the letter, the decision recognizes Oba Alao’s distinguished leadership and reaffirms his preeminent status among traditional rulers in Surulere Local Government. The gazette also empowers him with authority over several minor chieftaincies, towns, and villages within the area.

The statement further emphasized that the move was aimed at strengthening the traditional institution in Surulere and giving due recognition to the Olugbon as the foremost monarch in the council.
