A wave of heartfelt condolences swept through Ogbomoso last Monday as the Maigida Group Ogbomoso, a foremost socio-philanthropic association in the town, paid a moving tribute to the late Hon. Justice Afolabi Adeniran, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 83.
In a statement signed by the President, Prince Niran Beyioku, and Executive Secretary, Prince Adegboyega Ogunosun, the group expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the eminent jurist. They extended their condolences to the Adeniran family, the entire Ogbomoso community, and the government and people of Oyo State.
Describing Justice Adeniran as an extraordinary figure in Nigeria’s legal landscape, the Maigida Group noted that his impact transcended the bench. “The heavens blaze forth the death of Justice Afolabi Adeniran like a prince,” the group remarked, echoing the gravity of the loss.
The group lauded the late Justice’s outstanding career, which culminated in his appointment as Chief Judge of Oyo State. Beyond his professional achievements, they highlighted his deep-rooted commitment to his hometown, Ogbomoso, where he served as the President of the apex socio-cultural association, Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaaye.
“In that capacity, he served selflessly and wholeheartedly, becoming a beacon of hope and an architect of numerous developmental initiatives,” the statement read. “His quiet mien was endearing, his sense of fairness was exemplary, and his life overall was inspiring. We learnt valuable lessons from him that will continue to guide us in our service to the community.”
Joined by their Life Patron, Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida, the group offered prayers for the repose of the late jurist’s soul and for strength and comfort for his family and the wider Ogbomoso community to bear the irreparable loss.
Justice Afolabi Adeniran is remembered not only as a towering figure in the legal profession but also as a symbol of integrity, humility, and service to humanity.
