Federal Polytechnic Ayede Rector Applauds TETFund for Supporting Career Service Centre Workshop

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for partnering with the institution to organise the maiden workshop on Career Services.

The workshop, held on Wednesday at the institution’s TETFund 250-Seater Auditorium, was themed “The Role of Career Service Centre Staff”. Participants included Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and other staff members.

In his remarks at the event, the Rector—represented by the Deputy Rector (Academics), Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo—praised the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, for what he described as unwavering support for the institution.

Dr. Abdul-Hameed stated:

“On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff, and students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, I sincerely thank the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono, for his numerous contributions to the development of our institution.

TETFund has played a pivotal role in our growth, and this collaboration is yet another success story we deeply appreciate.

He encourage our staff to fully utilize the opportunity provided by this workshop to benefit not only our students but also the broader society.”

He further noted that the institution remains committed to continuous development and progress, citing the recent establishment of the Career Service Centre. The Centre is headed by Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Temilola Morufat Adepoju as Director, with Mr. Zainul Abideen Aliu as Deputy Director.

The facilitator of the workshop, Dr. (Mrs.) Olayemi Zainab Oduola, who is the Director of the Career Service Centre at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, emphasized the importance of adopting a holistic approach to career counselling—one that addresses academic, personal, and socio-economic needs, particularly among unemployed youth.

Dr. Oduola urged the newly established centre to incorporate entrepreneurial training and to begin organising career fairs that would involve a wide range of industries, including telecommunications and others.

Scoopchase News reports that the first phase of the workshop held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, for management staff and Heads of Departments, while the second phase continues today, Thursday, July 17, 2025, targeting all ND II students of the institution.
