The Borokinni of Ijeruland and a close associate of former Oyo State Governor, Chief Bayo Ogunesan, popularly known as Àjàgúàrà, has passed away. He died on Thursday at the age of 75 after a brief illness.
A reliable source confirmed that the late chief had been hospitalized for a few days and was placed on oxygen before succumbing earlier today.
Chief Ogunesan, a distinguished and cerebral figure in Ogbomoso, was conferred with the title of Borokinni of Ijeru Kingdom by His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran Lagbami Osekun III, the Onpetu of Ijeruland, several years ago.
He was also the founder and proprietor of Embassy Hotel, located in the Mikky area of Ogbomoso. He recently marked his 75th birthday on March 17, 2025.
Born in the Oloola Osupa family, Chief Ogunesan is survived by his wife and children. Since the news of his demise broke, his residence at Randa, near the home of former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, has been receiving a stream of sympathizers.
